Q: Is it allowable to join the service period prior to the application of the system for the Omani working abroad to the current service period?

A: It is not allowed to join the service period prior to the application of the system as per article (18) of the Social Insurance Law applicable to the Omanis working abroad and alike, which stipulates that it is not permissible to set a date for commencement of contributions prior to the date of the registration application.


Q: How can I join the Social Insurance system applicable to the Omanis working abroad?
A: Joining this system is optional if you are working abroad or in one of the embassies or consulates based in Oman provided you should not be below 18 years of age or above 60 years of age on commencement of contributions. 


Q: How do I register for the said system?
A: If you are interested in registration, you have to begin with the following steps:
Obtain the registration forms and the other forms attached thereto from any of the following: 

  • Oman's embassies and consulates abroad.

  • The Authority's head office in Muscat or any of its regional offices.

  • PASI website at (www.taminat.com).

  • Fill in the registration application form and attach the documents listed overleaf.

  • Choose the suitable monthly income category as shown overleaf on which basis you will have to pay the monthly contributions.

  • Mail your application to the Authority at the following address:
       P.O. Box 310,
       P.C. 115,
       Madinat Al Sultan Qaboos,
       Sultanate of Oman.

  • You will be advised of the acceptance of your registration with the Authority and the monthly contributions amount. You will also be provided with the respective account number of the said system at your postal address.


Q: How the monthly contributions is computed?

A: The monthly contributions you have to pay is calculated @ 13% of your income category provided the income should not be less than RO.200/- or above RO.800/-


Q: Can I change the income category?
A: Yes, you may increase or decrease your monthly income category within a maximum limit of 5% in January each year. 


Q: When the monthly contributions should be paid? 
A: Pay your monthly contributions on the first day of the month you have set for commencement of your contributions till the 15th day of the month next to the month you have set for commencement of your contributions. If you exceed the said period without paying the due contributions, an additional amount @ 13.5% of the monthly contributions amount would be charged.


Q: How do I pay the monthly contributions?
A: Payment may be effected through any of the banks abroad to the account number, which would be provided to you immediately after the registration approval. It is to be noticed that full contributions should be transferred and the Authority shall not be liable for any transfer charges.


Q: Can I pay the contributions in advance?
A: You may pay the prescribed contributions in advance quarterly, half-yearly or annually.


Q: What if I want to suspend my contributions?
A: If you want to suspend payment of your contributions, you have to follow the following steps:

  • Fill in the designated form (Advice for suspension of contributions payment).

  • Determine the suspension period and mention the causes behind your decision.

  • Mail the form to the Authority by registered post at the Authority's address.
